Health And Nutrition

Seed Oils Are Making You Fat And Destroying Your Health

Every day you are eating oils that were only used in industrial machines just 100 years ago. They're making you fat & destroying your health. And you don't even realize it.

In the 1920s, the percentage of calories that were obtained from "vegetable" oils in the American diet amounted to 0%. Today, the percentage of calories has risen to 7-8% of the total calories consumed by the average American.

First, "vegetable" oils were not originally called vegetable oils. They were called “seed oils”, and they were only used in industrial machines before the early 1900’s. I will cover how they became labeled "vegetable oils" later.

To obtain and use vegetable oils, they all must be chemically extracted from grains, seeds, or beans. Notice no vegetables are listed above. Hence, why most countries outside of the U.S. call them “seed oils”. But why does the U.S. call them "vegetable oils"?

They were given the name “vegetable oil” because the word “vegetable” appeared to be healthier when marketing the products. “Seed oil", “grain oil”, and “bean oil” just doesn’t sound as healthy in marketing! But ultimately, “vegetable" oils are industrial seed oils.

So how did they become food? This goes back to 2 soapmakers in the early 1900s, in Cincinnati. William Procter & James Gamble had historically made soap from rendered pork fat. Procter & Gamble were innovative and decided to create a new type of soap from seed oils.

Around the same time they started making seed oil soap, petroleum oil was discovered in Pennsylvania. Cottonseed oil had long been used for lighting lamps. Petroleum quickly displaced cottonseed oil as the fuel source for lighting lamps.

Cottonseed oil quickly became a “toxic waste” until the enterprising Procter & Gamble realized that all that unwanted cottonseed oil could be used to produce soap. But another bonus appealed to their business innovation, they learned the oil could be chemically altered via a process called “hydrogenation” to turn it into a solid cooking fat that resembled lard. Proctor & Gamble filed for two patents in 1908 in America.

In 1911, they came out with the first hydrogenated oil food product. This product would later be called Crisco. That’s how an oil formerly classified as “toxic waste” became an integral part of the American diet in the early 1900s.

Other vegetable oils followed soon after. Soybeans were introduced to the United States in the 1930s, and by the 1950s, it had become the most popular vegetable oil in the country. Canola, corn, and safflower oils followed shortly thereafter.

The low cost of these cooking oils, combined with strategic marketing on the part of the seed oil manufacturers, made them wildly popular in American kitchens. Even though their use was unprecedented in human history.

5 Habits That Are Sabotaging Your Discipline

Your lack of discipline is a hindrance keeping you from reaching your maximum potential. These 5 habits are sabotaging your efforts to be more disciplined.

1/ Lack of vision: Being shortsighted is a good way to not reach your goals. Instead, have a clear picture of what you're going after. Look at a picture daily if you have to. Doing so will make your goal tangible.

2/ No direction: Chasing multiple things at once will leave you empty-handed. Focus on ONE thing. It doesn't matter if it's as simple as drinking 32 oz of water a day. Become the best damn water drinker in the world.

3/ Inconsistency: You start, you stop. Sometimes a week, other times 23 days. Precede the main action with a 'trigger' action that will help solidify the habit. The two actions combined will make the habit repeatable, leading to consistency.

4/ No self-belief: You doubt your ability to achieve your desired outcome and sabotage yourself at every opportunity. Become your biggest fan. Hype yourself up. Tell yourself why you're going to win every morning. Because if you don't believe in yourself, who will?

5/ You don’t track progress: Random notes kept at inconsistent intervals don't tell you anything. Organize your thoughts in a journal or tracker. Make a reminder to make an input daily. This makes your progress real and will also help with consistency. A win-win.

Money And Business

It is no secret that one of the biggest ways to pass down a legacy to your family is through solid wealth principles. Teaching your kids about money, learning how to earn money, and building a substantial and stable income for your family are some of the most important things a man can do.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. It doesn’t have to be an idea that will change the world. The biggest thing that will change your life, wealth, and success, is to just get started.

You have to set foot on the field in order to play the game.

A Father’s Greatest Fear

Ever have a child go in for a procedure? Then you know the heart-wrenching time when your child is being given anesthesia especially young children

My youngest had to go in for a procedure recently As we waited for my son's turn I saw parents coming out from having their child given anesthesia pre-op Many were in tears It's scary.

It's a time that we have no control. We can't protect our children. They're in someone else's hands.

No matter how good the Dr. is as a parent - it's frightening. I've done this many times, and it does not get any easier. There is a part that hits a nerve EVERY time.

Right after your child is deemed under anesthesia You're told "ok, give your child a kiss" (some add in - say "I Love You") It's almost like parting from your child. So many people cry at this point - yet do we think about this more?

Do not wait for these moments to kiss your child Do not wait for these moments to say "I Love You" to your child Do not wait until you're scared, and you emotionally feel the need to hold them tight. Take the opportunity now to show your child how much you love them.

One of the most important traits of being a strong and successful man is being able to pass down the best versions of ourselves to our children. Make sure to follow @TheEvolvedDad to learn actionable tips and information about how to raise exceptional children that will one day rule the world.

15 Laws Of Success From A 100-Year-Old Book That The Elite Don’t Want You To Know About

One of my personal favorite books was written almost 100 years ago. Many people know Napoleon Hill from his popular book “Think and Grow Rich” However, many people don’t know much of the story behind Hill’s life and his earlier, and much more powerful book, “The Law Of Success”

The original writing was a 15-book set that was initially printed in 118 copies and given out to some of the most powerful people and families in the world. This raised quite a stir amongst them at the time as many of these powerful individuals did not want these “laws” or success habits to get out among the general populace.

I strongly suggest that anyone who wants to improve their mindset, learn the basics of success, and achieve personal goals should read and study this book.

Keep in mind, there are many different versions of this book and it has been reprinted by many different publishers over the years. After the original release in 1925, it was modified “dumbed down” and re-released in 1928 in the version that is most common today.

When you go to find this book, make sure you are getting a complete and unabridged version of the original 1925 printing.

I recently published a short breakdown of the 15 chapters, or laws, contained within this book. The one law that was not covered in that thread was the Law Of The Mastermind. One of the most powerful teachings within the book.

The Law Of The Mastermind

The Law Of The Mastermind is powerful because it shows you how the strength, power, and knowledge (energy) of multiple people can be combined for one singular purpose.

We all know that many minds working together can solve challenges much easier than one person on their own. Surrounding yourself with, and getting together in small groups of like-minded individuals is an extremely powerful skill.

If you hang out with lack-witted, simple-minded, and low-ambition people, your journey to success will be much more difficult than if you surround yourself with motivated and high-achieving people.

Yes, this means you may need to get new friends. Yes, this means you may need to put yourself in uncomfortable situations, but, the results are well worth it.

That said, to employ the power of the mastermind you don’t need to be friends with the most powerful people in the world, (Although it would help)

You can imagine people you would like to be associated with are part of your mastermind. Imagine what they would say. What they would think about a certain situation or challenge?

You can even place dead people on your mastermind “council” Imagine what it would be like to have Napoleon sitting at your side. Or Lincoln as a trusted advisor. Imagine what insights and advice they would give you.

No, I’m not talking about communicating with the dead. But, taking the time to think. Taking the time to think about what that person might advise if they could be right there with you. Thinking it through from other perspectives.

To truly understand a situation you must be able to see it from all angles. Using this technique forces you to think about situations from other perspectives and can help you gain valuable insights into your plans.

Like Hill’s popular book, “Think and grow rich” Thinking is one of the most important traits of successful people. Many of us never stop to think. To take the time to really work through a thought from beginning to end. To look at it from the outside and the inside. Examine it from other perspectives.

Try using this technique on your next big decision or idea. Take the time to form a mental mastermind with people you would love to counsel you in the development of that idea.

Stop, and really take the time to think about it from all angles.

Then, decide how it works for you.
