Patience is a superpower

Sometimes The Best Things Are Worth Waiting For

As I sit here at my desk waiting for the sun to crest over the mountains I am reminded of the power of patience.

This week has been a test of patience. My Twitter account got shodowbanned, one of my larger clients is late with a payment, Spring is officially here but it’s still cold and rainy, and Every day this week that I have walked into my office I have tripped over and stepped on my daughters toys all over the floor.

But,

I wouldn’t change it for the world.

These little things got me thinking about a saying I use often, “If it was easy, everyone would do it.” And realistically, none of these things are bad, hard, or really any sort of a problem more than a minor inconvenience.

It is one week later and my Twitter account is un-banned. My client is still late with the payment, but other clients have paid. It is raining but I know spring will be here in full force soon and I will be able to work outside on the patio.

And one day, my daughter will no longer play with toys, she will grow up, and I will miss here trying to move everything she owns into my office so she can be closer to Daddy while she plays.

All of these things are just a part of a life. And even the frustrations and tests of patience are amazing reminders of how good life is. If we think of them that way.

You see, everything is all about perspective. A problem is only a problem if you think it is. You could just as easily see a problem as an opportunity with the right mindset.

Suffering is only suffering if you call it so.

It reminds me of a picture I recently posted on Twitter.

Most people see the young woman, looking away, with her whole life ahead of her. But, there is also the old woman with a tired eye and a narrow lipped grimace.

Every situation in life can be looked at the same as this. Either as an opportunity waiting with tons of life and opportunity ahead, or a withered old situation, just waiting for ways to get out of it.

The choice is yours.

Choose wisely.

Don’t forget, life happens for you, not to you.

Once you take 100% responsibility for everything in your life the entire path of your life changes.

Twitter account get shadowbanned, I probably posted something, somehow, that the algorithm found objectionable. I caused it.

Client is late with payment. I chose the client, I did the work, I did not follow up for payment as much as I could have. I caused it.

It is still cold and rainy here. I chose to live here, I chose stay here. I caused it.

Stepping on toys on my office floor. I love it when my family is close to me. It let her bring toys into my office. I caused it.

I cannot get upset at things I cause in my life. I either accept them, live with them, and enjoy them.

Or,

I make a change. I learn from the situation. And I make things better.

You always have a choice.

Choose wisely.
